Nutritional Quality

Nutritional quality

Problem statement: As hidden hunger is a widespread health problem in SSA, nutrition of representative households will be analyzed with focus on the most problematic micronutrients vitamin A, zinc, and iron. A subsequently developed PC program shall help to analyze bigger populations and find out recommendations for better nutrition.

Objectives:

  1. Analysis of nutritional status of selected households
  2. Development of database for and use with PC program CIMI.

Research questions:

  1. Is there micronutrient deficiency in SSA
  2. Is CIMI a helpful tool and should it be developed also for other countries.

Methodology:

With food surveys of the countries and food frequency questionnaires the PC program CIMI will be developed and adapted to the respective country for easier future surveys.
